VICTOR, N.Y. - May 13, 2002 - BioWorks, Inc. announced today that it has introduced MilStop® Broad Spectrum Foliar Fungicide, an EPA-registered broad-spectrum fungicide for the control of foliar diseases in the horticulture and nursery market. MilStop, formulated as a water soluble powder, is based on potassium bicarbonate, an ingredient considered by the Food and Drug Administration to be classified as GRAS or "Generally Regarded as Safe." MilStop is a foliar-applied product that works well in an integrated program with BioWorks' biofungicides PlantShield HC and RootShield Granules, as well as all other commonly used fungicides. Commenting on MilStop's introduction, BioWorks' President & CEO, Bill Foster, stated, "We want to give growers an addition to their arsenal of safe and cost-effective products to prevent foliar diseases, in combination with our current EPA-registered biocontrol product PlantShield HC. And one of the many strengths of MilStop is its ability to both cure and prevent Powdery Mildew infections, as well as prevent many other foliar diseases." Mr. Foster noted that MilStop has a 4-hour Restricted Entry Interval ("REI") and can be applied to over 85 greenhouse-grown crops, including most annual and perennial flowers, woody and ornamental shade trees, woody and herbaceous ornamentals, ornamental nut and fruit trees, as well as many herbs and vegetables. BioWorks stated that they have recently submitted a request to lower the REI to 0-hours and will soon be applying for organic certification. BioWorks, Inc., a privately held company, provides environmentally responsible biological solutions that create value for customers, employees and investors. BioWorks is a founding member of the BioPesticide Industry Alliance.
